    Cage Mountable Food Dish

Looking to find a good food dish that can be mounted to the side of my FN-142 cage. Trying to find something that is fairly rugged as we have one or two chins who love to empty their dishes when they get upset with you. Ideally they would hold between 1.5c to 2c worth of food. Any suggestions?

    Hay Rack?

They fit really well. I've got 3 FN-142's for our 7 chin's. They are about 9 bar spaces wide, about 5" off the side of the cage at the top and about the height give or take between the horizontal support wires in the sides mesh. Chin's have not had any issues getting at the hay either.

I second the econo-hay rack recommendation. I have six of them in use and love them!

    Eye Injury

Hello, Just wanted to post an update. We had our appointment with the small animal specialize vet at our local hospital. She examined our little guy all over before looking specifically at the eye injury. She looked at the eye and determined that there was an infection in the eye. The vet...

    Eye Injury

We have an appointment with a local exotic vet on Wed. Will keep you all posted. Thankfully the forecast so far for Weds is suggesting a high of 70 here with possible rain. We are going to freeze a bottle of water with fleece to have with us just in case. Warmed up car aka with A/C running...

    Eye Injury

Today my wife and I noticed that one of our chin babies who is about 4 months old has what appears to be an eye injury. His left eye appears to have what looks like a cataract, about two thirds of the eye starting from the tear duct area going back looks silvery in nature and cloudy. The rest...

    Cage questions

The biggest advantage that Ferret Nation or Critter Nation cages have over other cages is that you can fully open the doors for easy cleaning. The doors are the entire front side of the cage.

I'm not sure, I'll have to ask the farmer what he thinks the mix is.

    Hay - With Birdsfoot trefoil

Wondering if anyone is familiar with Birdsfoot trefoil as an ingredient in hay mixes? I found a local source, which bails primarily timothy hay; however, it also contains birdsfoot trefoil, which was described to me as the following; "Birdsfoot trefoil is like a legume such as alfalfa. It is a...

Mama Chin and her Kits =)

As others have mentioned, remove the wheel. Mom has plenty to do with 3 little babies. Our rescue Bonnie had 3 little kits not to long ago. She did not cause them any harm. We did put one ledge in, which she could use for some alone time. It took about 5 or 6 weeks for the kits to be strong...

    Which Purina?

The difference between the complete and the show is that the complete product has corn in the pellet and the show has added vegetable oil, which is probably to help the coats of the chins? Sort of like how oils/fats added to a dogs diet often helps their coats... I'm tempted to try the Garden...

    Biodegradable bedding

I think the more accurate questions to get answer are whether or not chinchilla droppings are safe for the compost pile and what impact the potential for ammonia would have on the compost pile.

My dentist woes :( Wisdom teeth question

I had my wisdom teeth removed when I was about ~24 years old give or take a year or so. I had always been told by my previous dentists that if they came in they would come in without problems based on them looking at years of xrays. However, with that said they did come in and they came in...
