how long do you keep hay for?

Agreed, I keep my hay for my chins just like I do for my horses. As long as it isn't exposed to moisture and mold is stays great :)

    New Additions!!

No worries on the pm's.. I'm still trying to track down a better cage for the ebony boy. I really don't want to use Gemini's old cage..it was a pain in the butt to clean and get him out of... Have fun with the horsies, my mom had a Tennessee Walking horse when she was a teenager.. said he was...

    New Additions!!

Trust me, you don't want your first horse to be a 5-7 year old. Though not technically a baby, they can be quite the troublemakers at that age ;) I'm an avid rider and keep my horses at my mom's farm so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Enjoy them. Also, just a tip, I don't know...

How do you layer your fleece liners?

I use two layers of fleece and batting in between.. my pans are never wet underneath :)

    Casa de Gemini

Gemini doesn't touch his liners... but I also have a wood house, granite tile, ceramic food bowl and chin spin on top of it. I sewed liner to the bottom solid colored fleece and then sewed the top print to the other side of the fleece. After that you just turn it inside out and sew the fourth...

    Casa de Gemini

Heatherann - I got the wheel from Quality Cage .. it's the Chin Spin.. it's the larger of the two.. I believe 15" was the size on it. He loves it and it's way better than his old wheel. Lan- He went nuts over that chew.. Alli made it.

    Casa de Gemini

It's finally finished... my shipment from Camphor Chins came to day for the final touches. I made the shelves and fleece liner... the tube, couch, hanging toy, and awesome squiggle bridge are courtesy of Alli at Camphor.. Gemini loves it all! Had to include this one.. Gemini went...

    Fleece, FN142, ramps oh my!

I can answer a few of these... the pans that come with is are very shallow and they are plastic.. chins can chew the plastic easily and mess up their GI tract. I bought a pan from Bass Equiptment for $40 (that included shipping) they are large metal pans... mine is also 3" high instead of their...

    Hello from Bethlehem, PA

Hi All, I thought I would reintroduce myself, my name is Amy. Back in the days of Chins and Quills and I had two hedgehog ladies while I was living in NY. Sadly, they have passed on, but I picked up my Chin from Chinniecrew at the York Show last year (April??). Gemini is a beige fuzzball...

Which house?! I need help, i'm new lol!

If you check your local craigslists for the next few weeks you can probably find a Ferret Nation cage. I was using a cage similar to what you had for the top one as a temporary cage, and frankly, it was a pain in the but to clean and reach my chinboy in. To clean them you have to take the...

Fleece Liner and FN pan questions

So I took the plunge and I'm picking up my FN 142 tomorrow... now I have a few questions that I couldn't figure out from other posts. Up until now, my cage has had a fairly deep bottom tray that I've used pine bedding.. I'm gathering that pine will be a mess in the FN. Do the fleece liners sit...

Is this cage ok? (I'll be removing the shelves and replacing them)

I think you've sold me on the ferret nation with the doors.... I hate trying to get my guy through the tiny doors and they popping noise they make scares him. He's very easy to handle otherwise, but those darn doors are cumbersome. I think I found a few FNs that are in my price range and...

Is this cage ok? (I'll be removing the shelves and replacing them)

Thanks for the input, I put up a wanted ad for a ferret nation on my local craigslist, but I'm not sure I'll get any bites... Since I'm moving and applying to graduate schools I'm fairly broke between test/application fees and new furniture.. so if anyone here is around Allentown/Bethlehem PA...

    What stores sell PANR

I'm getting my chin later this week and I have all his supplies but I couldn't find PANR at petsmart and was hoping someone knows of other pet chains that carry it because it is what he currently eats. If it helps ian in the lehigh valley PA area if anyone from here is familiar.
