    Arlington TX 2 year update

Ansem is still with me! he has not gotten any bigger than what he was when I got him from Crysta, but that is too be expected due to the conditions he was rescued from. he loves his scritches, as long as they are on his own terms, and he LOVES trying to bite my nose when I clean out his cage. :)...

    Coconuts?!

Ive used them as feeders a few times and the chins have chewed on them as well, but mostly they use them to sit in or use as treat dishes. Ive had one use it as a potty dish too. :p

    The Ferret Nation Club

Finally!! I finally did it!! After years of wanting one and always missing out on the CL deals, I finally broke down and just bought a new one FN. :dance3: Originally, my girl Herbie was going to be the only one in it but I went ahead and ordered the Bass pan for it and it came today, so I...

Is daily C from oxbow safe?

I give it to my GP's, my Degu on a regular basis and my one malo chin as an occasional treat for the extra Vit C, but not to my other 2 chins because of the fruit thing. I would ask some of the more knowledgeable chin people on here though about it.

Pugsy, Ginger, and Goldie Girl.. Rest in Peace Angel Babies

The last few weeks have been very sad in my house and it seems as if the Bridge Keeper has been taken up residence in my home. 2 weeks ago, I lost my 13 year old doxie, Gingerbread, to a what we think was either a stroke or heart attack. One week to the day she passed, I lost her father, 17...

    Sabin

I don't know what to say, all I feel is guilt about what happened. Had I been able to see in the future, I would never have left the house today. Instead I would have remained home and spent the day with you, and maybe this would not have happened. I was entrusted to your care, and I failed at...

    Giving Chins as Christmas Gifts

My first chin was a surprise, for my son on his birthday, from my sister. His hamster had just died, and it being his birthday, she asked him if he wanted a chinchilla. I had never heard of them, and neither had he; but being as he was heartbroken over the hammie, he said yes although I said No...

What are the ages of chin owning members?

Im 36 and have owned 'chillas for about 5 years now, I want to say. Ive owned all kinds of pets, but fell into the 'chilla hobby by accident, when my sister gave my son one of hers.

    Do not use distilled water?

As Sandi said, reverse osmosis water is perfectly fine to give to chins. If you decide to go this route, my advice would be to get an under the sink reverse osmosis watering system at Lowe's or Home Depot. My hubby got me one for under 200.00 and I only have to replace the filters every 6...

    During Cleaning

I havent done the plexiglass, for being afraid of them chewing on it, but I have done it with marble and ceramic tiles. And yes, they worked fine.

    Chinchilla Tea?

I wouldn't do it for chins, but I have done it for myself.. and it was good, I must say :)

    50 lbs for 5 chins?

Alfalfa based pellets are better for rabbits and guinea pigs, up to one year of age and breeding does and sows, because it has the necessary calcium that young ones need for growing strong healthy bones and eyes, etc and that breeding sows and does need for the pregnancy. Once they reach the...

    leg stuck in cage

The vet in Altoona, PA is only 43 minutes from Smithmill, Pa, in case you want to try and call them. And the Pleasant Valley Animal Hospital is only 45 minutes away from Smithmill, Pa. The Lakemont Veterinary Clinic is also 45 minutes away from you. I would give one of these vets a call in the...

    I need parent help, please.

I am a parent of a child with a few special needs and I know how hard it is to make time for all of the children in the household and make them feel that they are loved and that I spend enough time with all of them. My 14 year old was recently diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, OCD, Auditory...

    Priming question

Me Too!!! Herby always looks like she is part hedgehog or porcupine because of the priming. I attribute her constant priming to her teeth issues and her not grooming herself as much anymore. But either way, she looks funny!! :))

    Chin and Dwarf Hamster?

While I think it is okay to have them in the same room, you may need to rethink setting the cage on top of your chin cage. I say this, primarily to avoid cross contamination of feces an urine, of both the chin and the hammy. No matter what kind of cage the hammy may be inside, some cross...
