    Do your chins mark territory?

YES! Two of my four have a kind of contest to see who can claim (pee on) the most areas of the play space. The other two don't seem to care.

    Oxbow in bulk

I ordered a 50 lb bag from drsfosterandsmith this month. I couldn't find a better deal when I had looked.

How do you know if you're allergic to chins?

Wow, you do have a nasty rash! FYI, you could take Zyrtec or Allegra (both are OTC and have generics available) instead of Benadryl. They're antihistamines like Benadryl but cause much less drowsiness. Glad it's not likely from your chinchillas and hope you're feeling better soon!

    Are chin spins quiet?

Yep, that's the case with my Chin Spins and Flying Saucers, too.

    Hand mounting

Chico used to LOVE my hand. I still have little scars on my forearms where he got a bit rough with the teeth while he was doing his thing. Gizmo has a thing for feet/shoes. Beck terrorizes his cuddle buddy, thankfully. Dante is too busy for such nonsense, and Zane isn't old enough yet...

How to hold a chinchilla for a subcutaneous injection?

When I had to give Beck subq Baytril, I'd put him on the kitchen counter, put my left thumb and second finger across his neck, pinch the skin to make a tent with the left thumb and first finger, and give the injection with the right hand. (I got my husband to put a blanket over his head and...

    Going away/ playtime>>?

I've been gone for 6 days before. I had a critter-sitter give food, water, and sticks to the boys and check on them twice daily. I didn't want them out of their cages (except in case of an emergency) when I wasn't there. They had their wheels, at least. They didn't like it but they were...

    Update on Beck's infected foot

Back from our recheck visit. No surgery needed for Beck! The toe is all healed up!

    Priming question

Chico always had a very distinct priming line: My other boys will just have little random tufts coming out and look rough for a short while. Can you post a picture of Latte?

    Update on Beck's infected foot

Beck had an infection in his foot after Dante bit him a few weeks ago. We started with chloramphenicol to get the infection under control before possible surgery, and after 2 days Beck stopped eating completely. We switched to Baytril injections (diluted with saline so they won't burn) and I...

    If looks could kill...

OMG!! I'd be sleeping with one eye open.

How often do you let your chinnies out to play?

My boys get out every night, usually about 30 minutes each (none get along, so it's 3 separate play times).

    Chloramphenical for toe infection?

Yep, I know. I'm a pharmacist so I have to tell people this all the time. I can't have Beck not eating, though. That's a much bigger problem. He only missed one dose and is already on Baytril injections. ;)

    Chloramphenical for toe infection?

Thankfully, Dr. Johnson was in the office today. I took Beck in as soon as I got off the phone with the receptionist. The toe looks much better, so the chloramphenicol was working, but we can't have him not eating. We switched to injectable Baytril once daily to get an equally as effective drugs...
