My chinchilla has rolled in all purpose flour like a dust bath. Somebody forgot to put it away and Marble destroyed the bag when he got loose this afternoon. I came home to flour chin prints everywhere and a very white chinchilla. Is all purpose flour safe for chins to roll in? :embarrassed:
I use candles all the time in the room where marble and his cage are. It doesn't seem to irritate him. That room is big and well ventilated so the scent dissipates pretty quickly too.
You can buy those wooden ledges at pet smart too if you don't feel like making them. The larger ones are good for making a level in the cage, line them up side by side.
Marble is going through a prime right now and there is chinchilla hair flying everywhere. I comb a little everyday to help get some of it because it bothers him. This is the worst he's looked during a prime because there are tags of fur hanging out all over his bum. How can i get him to tolerate...
Marble miscalculated his jump wanting to get on one of the wooden shelves in his cage and was holding on with the front paws while the back ones were dangling. He did this odd looking wiggle in attempt to get leverage with one of his back legs and pull himself up but ended up falling anyway. He...
One is definitely ok alone. Keep him in a place where you and your family spend the most time. My chin loves to watch us watch tv and interact. Males seem to be friendlier too but that's just what i think.
I'm thinking our chins do this because it's too hot inside the house or they just like to be seen. Mine definitely likes to be seen he's an attention hog.
Haha! Marble was really funny the first time he saw himself in the bathroom mirror. He started making little noises at his reflection at first but when he got closer and it "moved" he took off in the opposite direction afraid. Now he could care less since he's used to it.
Marble used to be on Mazuri which he ate fine but he was eating through that little 2.5lb. bag in less than a month all by himself so I switched to the 5lb. Oxbow bag which he likes too. However his preference is more in the hay. He seems to like the Oxbow botanical mix over all the other kinds...
The water that come from my tap is so cold you'd think there were ice cubes in it but it's just like that because it's cold outside. Marble drinks it with no issues but yet with our heater running it probably heats up to room temp pretty quickly. I'm not looking very much forward to the summer...
This week I took my son to a petting zoo of sorts and they had chinchillas there too. These chins were really mellow and such and when they were sleeping they all sort of smooshed together in their sleeping box. I know they like sleeping like this but it seems Everyone whose got a chin that i...
