Ugh, I should not have gone through this thread, haha. I really wish I would have gotten a FN instead of the cage Stanley's in now. I have cage envy!

I finally got a Ferret Nation!! I've been wanting one for ages, ever since I first adopted Abbey. Her current cage is a really old model Martin cage, which I like okay but the cage doors are tiny and it's a bit rusted on the bottom. The price tag of the FN was what kept me so long from getting it, but get this....I bought my FN 182 BRAND NEW for $56!!!!!! I got it at petsmart! This petsmart doesn't normally carry FNs and someone had returned this one to the store after ordering it online, then canceling the order. The FN still shipped to their house so they just took it to the store to return it. The box hasn't even been opened! I guess since the petsmart doesn't normally carry FNs, they sold it at cost!! I am so happy!! I couldn't leave it behind!

Unfortunately, however, the box is still sitting in my car, haha! I live in an apartment and couldn't carry the box up two flights of stairs by myself so I have to wait for my boyfriend to come home in two days to get it up here and put it together! In the mean time, I'm planning on how to decorate it!

I have a couple questions though. With Abbey's current cage, I use two layers of fleece with newspaper underneath. I clip it all down with binder clips. How can I use fleece in the FN? Can you still clip it or do you have to use the fleece with the quilt lining? I've also been wondering about the Bass pans. Is that a good investment? Do they keep the poo from falling onto the floor?

I'm so excited!!!!

Even though I just ordered my FN 182, I'm still looking through here for decorating ideas. Can someone let me know how easy/difficult it would be to add the two smaller shelves once the cage is assembled? Right now I plan on leaving them out since I ordered wooden shelves for Stanley, but I'm curious in case I change my mind.

Ninja- I actually use one of the smaller shelves on my lower levels because my older girl sleeps on it. It's not hard at all, you'll just have to cover it in fleece like the rest of the cage. The metal prongs jut slide right into some holes that are on the legs and it's pretty sturdy, it with holds my girl's tantrums!

awesome!! thanks for the quick answer!

Hi all new to the forum, I have been out of the hobby for several years, however I used to keep FN's when I had chins years ago. Although they were stock FN's with the plastic shelves in them, I used to just cover the ladders with fleece.

Anyway, I have a few questions.....first up is where do you get the deep metal pans for the bottoms of them?
Where do you get the wood ledges from?
Where do you get the larger wooden shelves from?
How do you hold your fleece down so that it doesn't bunch up or flip over?

Thats all the questions for now lol hopefully the responses are quick as I would like to start setting up some cages this week.

I think http://www.bassequipment.com/cages/default.aspx is the website for the pans.
The wood ledges I got from Shooper on here. She has a Facebook page called Fleece for Furries. I also got some that are the length of the sides of the cage from http://www.qualitymutationchinchillas.com/.
My fleece is an envelope style, so the only loose part is tucked under the plastic pan itself.

So I finally got to join the Ferret Nation Club today!! I am so excited! I just wanted to share my new set up for Stanley!

If anyone is looking to purchase now is the time, Petsmart.com has them on sale for $105.57 BUT on top of that now through Feb 3rd you get 20% off your order of over $100 so thats 20% off right there, or you get 30% off orders over $150 so just buy some food or hay and some toys to get up over $150 and your getting another 30% off of that cage!!!! That makes the cage $73.90!!! there is shipping charges too but you can't afford to pass up this deal!

Ahh this is making me crazy! I am soo jealous of all these awesome cages! I'll post pictures of my FN after it is finished being decorated. The cage should be here tomorrow!!!!

I love the hello kitty and adventure time! Sydney doesn't do well with fleece, she pees all over so I switched to pine. Where do you get the boxes and other accessories?

Here is Abby's new cage! She can not stop exploring!! Loving it! I will be adding more stuff for her tomorrow, since this cage is so much bigger than her last it looks empty!!!!
