    New Diet for Overweight Hedgie

When I took Maserati to the vet for her most recent check-up, the vet said she weights 550 g and is overweight. She has a large cage (2'x4') with a dig box, tunnels, stuffed animals to play with, and a wheel. She is 4 years old now and doesn't use her wheel as much as she used to, but she still...

    Blood in urine - question....

I noticed yesterday morning that there was blood in Maserati's urine (none in the stool, though). I tried to get her into an emergency vet, but nobody would see a hedgehog. So, I talked to a friend of a friend yesterday who is a vet and he agreed to see her this morning. She hasn't had any...

    What should I do if....

I get the flu, swine flu, a cold, strep, other viruses, etc.? I'm not normally one to be paranoid about things, but swine flu has entered the county I work in, and I work with young kids, so I'm bound to end up getting something this season. In case that happens, can any of these things be...

    New Cage *w/ Pics!*

Maserati started as a baby in a 10 gallon aquarium with a comfort wheel, moved to a Sterilite then a modified birdcage (because of an accident with the Sterilite at a sitter's house - they bought the birdcage) both with a bucket wheel, and now she has a hedgie palace and cake walk wheel (which I...

I ended up taking over 900 pics on my recent trip (yikes)! I finally finished editing all of them on Lightroom, and have narrowed down to my top 327 for printing. Haha. So, now I need to get to printing. What websites have you all used, and what are your favorites? I think I have heard that...

    I'm home...

...After 6 weeks in Zambia! We also ventured into South Africa and Botswana, but only for day trips. I was part of the first ever group to do speech and hearing screenings in Zambia. Like the title says, I am going through a ton of life changes right now! Here's a rundown: Just graduated undergrad on Saturday (I graduated Magna Cum Laude!), and will be transferring to Kent State for grad school in the fall, where I do not know a single person. In fact, I still have yet to...

    Speech and Hearing

    Dumping out food?

Maserati has started a new weird behavior: dumping her food all over the cage at night. I'm wondering if this is normal, or if it could possibly be acting out, because she only started this after I brought her back home after leaving her with a sitter for a week while I visited my parents in PA...

    Prickly Hedgehog Cake

I found this recipe for a hedgehog cake at MailOnline. It looks pretty easy since all you need are 1 large/1 small sponge cake, chocolate frosting, chocolate vermicelli (or sprinkles), chocolate matchsticks, and 3 chocolate drops. The hardest part would be cutting it up to eat. It's cute!
