    Free in Philadelphia (Conshy) Area

Our beloved Chin, Squirrel, passed away this weekend. I have 1 large unopened bag of Oxbow food and an open bag of oxbow food to give away. There is also an open jar of Blue Cloud dust. I live in the Conshy area, and would ask that you pick it up.

I Know Where You Can Get Free Apple Wood Near Philly

I called. They are using integrative pest management. They spray early in the season. So much for that idea. There is another organic orchard near where I live, but I need to speak to the head guy to see if I am allowed to go get fallen branches/twigs there. If it is allowed, I will post...

I Know Where You Can Get Free Apple Wood Near Philly

Oh well. I guess I'll get on the phone and ask. It only took 5 minutes of my time to pick up the wood. If I have to toss it, no harm, no foul. :)

    Bonding Odds

I do fully understand that it's going to depend on the temperament of the animals. However, I think you guys are a good source of info on the temperament of the species in general. Especially those of you who have adopted/rescued chins from a variety of sources. My problem is that Squirrel...

I Know Where You Can Get Free Apple Wood Near Philly

I have already assumed that they have, and plan on cleaning the wood rigorously.

    Bonding Odds

I've read a lot about getting two chins to bond lately. I've read the various methods and theories on how to make it happen. Frankly, what I've read concerns me. It seems like it's not likely to find a friend for Squirrel who could be a companion in his cage. While I'm up for the care of...

I Know Where You Can Get Free Apple Wood Near Philly

If you live in the Philadelphia area, French Creek State Park / Hopewell Village has an apple orchard. In the fall, you can pay to pick apples. But, there are fallen branches under the trees all the time, and they don't mind if you take them. (Of course, you can't cut them from the trees) I...

    Pooped chin after excercising!

Squirrel flops too, but I always figured it was just him being bummed because playtime was over.

If He Was a Girl, I'd Rename Him Martha Stewart

Today, we went to Lowes and got wood and hardware for new shelves and ledges. Replaced the wire stuff he's had for four years. He actually approved of our redesign this time :). He was jumping onto some shelves even before we finished bolting them in. Amy

Tunnel Of Fun Safe For Chinchilla's

I went to a local carpet place and got a free long cardboard tube that Squirrel loves to play in. I just had to trim the ragged edges. The carpet stores just throw them away and won't mind giving you one.

If He Was a Girl, I'd Rename Him Martha Stewart

The little guy seems to have an opinion on fleece patterns too. Normally, he doesn't mess with his fleece liners. But, I made a very colorful one this weekend, and he wouldn't leave it alone. I would tuck it in under the tray, and he would immediately untuck it and start pulling it up. Changed...

    Is Four Too Old?

In May, a coworker's friend gave us a Chinchilla (Squirrel), a large cage, food, supplies, etc. Her kids had lost interest, and Squirrel needed more socialization. He's adapted pretty well to us. He's not crazy about being held, but he will climb all over us when he's out in the Chin-proof...

If He Was a Girl, I'd Rename Him Martha Stewart

The other day, we cleaned Squirrel's cage, and reorganized things a bit. Because I thought he might like a bit more privacy while he slept, I moved his sleeping house from the rear of the cage to the front, and turned it so the door faced the back. The next morning, I discovered Squirrel...
