    Bird feather in hay

I hope they didn't take a taste test! I'd hope my guys got better taste than that! LOL! My chin from years ago did do a taste test on a dead roach that was on the floor. He munched it because it was crunchy and realized nope that wasn't good and spat it all out! His face was priceless!

    Bird feather in hay

Well, the other day my chins found part of a dead mouse in my 9lb oxbow timothy hay! Decapitated, mangled (had hay bits in it), smelled like pee but dry. I didn't see it when I gave it to them, but they dragged it out of the pile. Hope my chins did not take a bite of it. Thoroughly grossed...

    Show off your ebonies!

Here's my Poncho :) His classic OMG stance (he's a big baby and scared of anything/evertyhing) And a picture that says it all :) Sorry for the HUGE pics-I have no idea how to shrink them down!

The name game..what in your chins name?

No logic behind mine, I just like to name mine with 'P' because it made me laugh :) For years I wanted 2 chins, Pokei and Poncho....then it just grew....:) Pokei (std) Poncho (eb) Pineapple (mosaic) Pow Pow (pw) Pancake (bv)-RIP

How did you dispose of your dead animal(s)

All my past pets have been cremated. I have them with me until I find the home I settle into. Then I will bury them all together.

    Lining a cage with fleece

The absorbent layer is flannel. I've read people using terry cloth/towels as well. I find that layer helpful to wick away moisture so the chin is no sitting on wet fleece.

    Blue Cloud at Petsmart

I haven't seen it in Canada yet, but I've seen the oxbow products!

    Lining a cage with fleece

My cage liners are 3 layers sewn together (fleece, absorbant layer, fleece). I have 3 per pan which for me I find perfect. I don't attach it to my cage, it just lays on the bottom as is. Every day I sweep up the hay and poop in the cage using a small hand brush and pan. Some use vaccums to do...

Pancake after dental appt-not eating or sleeping

Thanks everyone I appreciate it. I am just so sad and shocked and feel like I could have done something else. Pancake's heart was weak by the time I got to the vet. He may have suffered a stroke. I'm too out of it to really talk with either vet to get more details that I'm going to leave it...

Pancake after dental appt-not eating or sleeping

Pancake was getting antibiotics daily after the operation. Anyhow that doesn't matter now. I took him to the vet and he just died. Thanks for everyone's help.

Pancake after dental appt-not eating or sleeping

Forgot to add, he's shifting while trying to sleep/rest and he's not grooming himself, nor is he rolling around in sand.... :(

Pancake after dental appt-not eating or sleeping

Not good FYI Pancake started experiencing heavy breathing last night...I tried giving him simethicone (.5mL) and he seemed to be expelling something and shaking out his body. Anyhow, I'm now worried if I might have introduced another problem while trying to feed him (ie feed or liquid going...

    Techniques for hand feeding chins

Thanks everyone so much for the advice! I fed Pancake a few times already using the technique in the vid....and it's working MUCH better :) I'm surprised after a while he gives up fighting and laps it up. I got roughly 30mL of CC in him, I'm going to do a few more feedings tonight. Thanks...

    Techniques for hand feeding chins

Hi, I need advice on how to hand feed/force feed a chin to make sure I'm doing it right and effectively. While I'm feeding Pancake, most of his food does not get into him. I've tried doing the burrito, feeding him when he approaches me while he's running around, cradling him, having the bf...

Pancake after dental appt-not eating or sleeping

I've attempted a few more times to feed Pancake with no success spoon or syringe. I've tried cradling him, doing the burrito etc, and it's everywhere again! If nothing really gets in I guess it's about 24.5mL of CC and lifeline that I fed him today with current weight at 698g. I know it's...

Pancake after dental appt-not eating or sleeping

:) Pancake just took 3.5 teaspoons of watered down CC and lifeline from a spoon without a fight! He also drank some water out of his water bottle, not a whole lot but stayed there for at least 1min while drinking :) I will attempt again in a few.....
