    Bin cage and heat pad?

Okay, I made a stand out of storage grids and will be using a 150watt che with a 10inch dome, angled so that it hits both bins. Does this sound like it'll work?

    Bin cage and heat pad?

I really don't want to spend so much money, and whatever heating method I use I will be getting off of Amazon.com. The breeder only uses hot water bottles and a heater if it gets cold. So there's no way to use heat pads safely? I've seen some threads that talk about it but they're all so vague lol.

    Bin cage and heat pad?

My set up is 2 sterilite bins without the lids, connected by a 4" pvc pipe. The bins are 66qt each and each measure 20 by 14". I live where it doesn't really rain or snow much, and we're approaching summer and it gets hot! My house really doesn't get cold either, and we always put the heater on...

    trembling, weight and fur loss?

What is care credit and how do I get it? And I know you guys aren't vets. I wanted to know if anyone experienced a similar issue, or could refer me to another question that had similar concerns. Geez, this website has changed a lot. So often I see posts with tons of views but no response...

    trembling, weight and fur loss?

Hi guys. I'm having an issue with my chinchilla Davy. Lately, he seems to be getting thinner. Around a month or two back, he was weighing in at around 550 grams. I just weighed him right now and he is at 532. He seems to be eating his pellets and hay, although I suppose not as much. He'll eat...

    I need advice

Thanks for the info guys. Yes I did mean 2x2 in grids not feet. I'm still pondering about what to do. I've always had pets here. Like I said, it's not so much the manager that minds but the supervisor that comes 1-2 times a year. I really don't want to go petless because I'm used to having a...

    I need advice

We have inspections by the government workers who run the apartments, every year. Before all that we'll have a couple inspections by the regular managers. Well, I realized having a chin is not very easy to clean. Theres poopy everywhere most of the time. I have to clean every day if I want it to...

    What makes a bonded chin?

Hi guys :) I've had my chinchilla for 7 months now and he's 2 years old. He came from a person's home, he was born there but the person is not a breeder. What I want to know is how can you tell if a chinchilla is really bonded to you? Of course, I know the bond will strengthen over time. I'd...

    Hedgehog or Chinchilla?

Thanks for the info guys, I know my question was pretty loaded! I do hope I get more insight from others as well. My chin I suppose is and isn't cuddly. When he's in his cage all drowsy he'll let me pet him and give him scritches and love. However once he's out he gets all hyper and either...

    Hedgehog or Chinchilla?

For those of you who have had both chinchillas and hedgehogs: What is the personality difference? Which is easier to care for? Which is more handleable? Which cuddles more, and which plays more? Which bonds more to their owner? Any other information would be great. I already have a chinchilla so...

Anyone looking for a Chin in SoCal?

His name is Davy, and he is by far the awesomest chinchilla ever. Davy is a rare colored pink white chinchilla. Personality wise my boy is a sweetheart although he does get energetic and enjoys 1-2.5 hours of playtime in the evenings. He is missing an eye due to an accident as a baby that...

    My Little Chin's Cage

Hey turtlemoon! If you have the same cage, you know the big purple grate that's supposed to go in the bottom to keep bedding in? Well I used that grate and the two metal grid ramps attached by zip ties for the roof front. The back is two storage grids and the sides are a storage grid each, which...

    Mounting Silver Surfer

The two hooks on the wheel are supposed to be mounted horizontally (so on top). Then there is the screw on the bottom that you secure through the cage bars with a washer. Good luck, your chinnies will enjoy running on it!

Chins making their boards/ledges a mess

Like everyone else has said, poop smashed ledges shouldn't be a regular occurence. But hopefully with the pellets removed their poops will be more normal and less messy. I use a mix of white vinegar and water to clean my boy's cage, I just wipe it down with a paper towel.
