Wanted to prompt more people to nominate their chins - and guess what? If you chinnie gets chosen on Sunday, he or she will be talked about on the radio, too! I am a guest on a pet radio show, and on Sundays, they ask me to talk about that day's Pet of the Day, so I'd love to sneak a chinchilla in to talk about them!

Sadly, I did not get to talk about Zavia - started a different thread for her - on the radio today - the radio station, which is in Florida, was struck by lightning, which took out both its phone lines and transmission lines! They had to replay a show from back in June instead, but they also couldn't get their Internet feed up and running, just normal radio.

But I do intend to get a chance to talk about chinnies some time, and - ooohh, if you can get a picture of your chin with a birthday hat or near balloons or something, we will need an extra special Pet of the Day for September 1st - it will be the start of our site's 14th year!

There are a couple of stations - the Sunday show is usually on WLBE 790 AM at 1 p.m.

If you go to allpawspettalk.com, you can see the stations list, in case you're not in that part of Florida, though some Fridays I don't get to talk about the day's featured pet, depending on which hosts are on.

Need more Chinnie noms! :)

Thanks - you should nominate one of your crew! We always need new nominations, and have not had a chinnie in a bit, since Zavia!

I went home to take more pictures for you, but my stupid camera died. At that point since it was midnight I figured it just wasn't worth it anymore. :p

Awww, adorable Tams! Can you send me an email or a PM telling me each one's age, kind, and about each one and why she or he is special to you?

(My email is Karen (at) PetoftheDay.com )

Sunny was born in the middle of November '09, so he's about 10 1/2 months old now-I think, lol-why am I so bad at math right now:p Anyway he's a violet male with lots of personality-with my daughter, if she's too touchy with his stuff, he also has a dominant personality...she 3 1/2 and wonders why he keep trying to 'hug' her foot:( I've trained her, though, lol, and he's rarely that way with her now.

I originally bought Sunny as a pet that the both of us would take care of together (she could help feed him, give him hay, and his 1 treat a day) but now she just does the treat, lol-not interested in the rest for the time being. She loves him, though, and calls him her little brother. She also named him-I let her do that. I would've done something like Dusty, but she wanted Sun, so it became Sunny. We've already collaberated on the chins name we'll adopt in the near future-it will be Flip-Flop, because in the beginning, Sunny reminded me of my ex's name, Sonny-that wore off after a few months, though, lol!

I also bought Sunny from a breeder in PA like 2 hours from me. I fell in love with his pic, as did Piper (my daughter), and then met him in person-I was hooked immediatly and couldn't imagine not bringing him home. Now that I have him, he's like my 2nd, super hairy child! He's so smart and tricky, but because of his huge, occassionaly dominant personality, I'm afraid he won't like Flip-Flop and I'll have to make or get another cage! I'll just take it super slow and hopefully he'll be too happy to have another fur-ball buddy to play with, he won't care that he'll be sharing a cage. And maybe have lots more friends in the farther-future, if I open my own little rescue when we move out of here and have more room:)

Still worth it! Tell them pose pretty! Okay, bribe with treats if necessary! When Jemma was Pet of the Day, it was fresh hay that got her to hold still long enough for a clear picture or two!

The white rip was maroos. Mr doba is the grey and he's in a ferret nation cage now with little boo (pics coming soon)
