    Wanted: female kit in MA

Looking for a female chin, 4 years and under that typically gets along with other chins. Not picky about mutation, but preferred in the Northern MA/Southern NH area.

    not acting right

Some of you might remember Balthazar the ringworm chin that I adopted from my work. The ringworm had proven very tough and it is only recently that he has appeared totally clear. Long story short, I live in New England and there is no ac in his quarantine room. We are experiencing a heatvwave...

Update Thread: Balthazar the Ringworm Chin

The chinchilla I adopted from my work is doing amazing. I have to set up a (hopefully) final vet appointment for next week, then hopefully he will be cleared to come downstairs. An early picture of him, when it was bad but not severe: More recent: This week: And a video...pardon my...

Update: Balthazar looks fantastic. His fur has all been back for several weeks. I gave him his first out of cage play time a few days ago, and he loves it. He is also very responsive and affectionate. Zar has his next vet's appointment next week and will hopefully get the all clear to come down...

    Concerned.

If you're concerned about a behavior change, my advice is to go to the vet and have her checked out. My Demon started off like that then got more lethargic, and in hindsight I wish I'd brought her when I first saw her behavior change.

How often do you weigh your chins?

I never weighed my chins until Demon got sick and passed away. Then I weighed Angel, to make sure she's eating and not depressed. She was 486g last week and is 484g today. I'm pretty sure 2 grams is nothing to worry about. She hopped right on the scale for me( I used a shreddie as a lure) like a...

    My first hammock

Yeah, I wasn't a fan either. I'm going to get a grommets punch tool I think and see if it's any easier.

In Desperate Need of Advice or Suggestions!

I named him Balthazar when we got him in at my store(most end up with nicknames) and since we've been calling him that for 3 months, I couldn't change it. However, Balthazar is a mouthful, especially when the owner of said name is getting into mischief every 3 seconds. So now I call him Zar, or...

I'll be keeping him. Originally I had thought that I would rehome but after watching his personality grow and his health improve I can't picture trusting anyone else to care for him right. I'm falling in love with the little guy.

He looked worse than the first picture when I brought him home, all the fur on his shoulders was gone, up to between his ears and the skin was bright red. I can't wrap my mind around how quickly he's improving.

Another update, later than I intended because of my poor Demon... Mister 'Zar is doing fantastic. My vet put him on an oral antifungal, which he absolutely loves and takes no problem. He's been on it a week and there is already a significant improvement in everything- his fur, his appetite, and...

    My first hammock

I found the DIY thread and decided to try some out. So far I made this for Angel(along with a cuddle buddy), and a second one for funsies. She actually seems to like it, so I'm happy. And mildly addicted...

    My sweet Demon

RIP sweet girl. I'm so sorry I couldn't save you. Your sister and I can't accept that your're gone. I miss you sitting on my arm and grooming my face, and the way you would always beg for attention and treats. You had the most amazing personality and were so tolerant of everyone and everything...

Neither of my two liked to be grabbed, so I never did. Demon was purchased as a male at a petstore that I used to work at and was sold to me by someone I trusted. I never got a good look at down there until Friday, when I realized she was not a male. I had actually thought the other was a...

They did not do an dray. As I mentioned, they wanted to charge 600 just to do diagnosticss, and another 600 to treat whatever they found. If she makes it until tomorrow, my vet is going to see her first thing. They had also said they believed an infection caused the wet bottom.

Update: Demon has made it through the day. She still hasn't pooped but did take critical care and a hay/pedialyte blend my vet suggested willingly, although she's weak and I had to help hold her head up. I put a sock with warmed rice under her belly and massaged it several times. She is also...

They said she may also have a infection as the cause of the wet/matted. They would have charged me over $600 for just diagnostics and another $600 to ttreat. As is they charged me so much for home care that my funds are depleted. I do want a second opinion but my vet is out of the area until...
