Worried about Chin - Not doing well!

It's a good thing that you care so much and got him to a vet. Sure hope they are able to help him and nurse him back to health.

I'm glad to hear you were able to get the sticky stuff off. Please keep us updated.

    Riddex

Oh my like you would really want to experiment on your pet! I can't believe they would say something like that. Some people just don't think.

    Marble? Tiles?

I got mine from lowes and it was a lot less expensive than the chillers they sell at the pet stores.

    Chin Proofing A Room

Yes be careful of those bathroom cabinets. Ours had this tiny space under it. I didn't think our chin could get in but sure enough she did. Took quite a bit of work and cutting to get her out. That was the last straw for us. We turned a room downstairs into a chin room once our son moved out. We...

Sorry that I missed this. I wonder if it will be on again.

    Allergies?

Allergies are one of the reasons I'm no longer enjoying my chins like I use to. I go into their room and come out miserable. I'm guessing it's more of an allergy to their hay, shavings, and dust than to them though.

    Chin suddenly biting

I would move him back to his old location. Something in that room must be setting him off.

    Febreeze around Chinchilla?

I wouldn't use any sprays like that around my chins. Not worth taking a chance.

What can I do to help my new chin settle in better?

Sounds like you're doing a good job. Just go slow and pretty soon you'll be great friends.

being shy and scared>??? not able to pet?

None of my chins like full body pets. Usually a scritch under the chin or behind the ear makes them happy. If they are not in the mood for scritches they will push my hand away with their paw.

    Another potential new owner

One possibility is to build a melamine cage so that the top and sides are solid and the cats cannot access the chins. Our melamine cages have "windows" cut out on the sides with wire covering them and wire doors.

Weird noises and pawing at face.

I would think there would be too much sugar in the yogurt. I remember some on here giving pumpkin to their chin. Maybe mixing the probiotic with pumpkin would be better than mixing it with yogurt. I know somebody with more experience and knowledge will chime in here soon. I hope your chin gets...

    New to the chin world!

Congrats on your new chins! Good for you in not taking those death balls. Kaytee really isn't a very good pellet to be feeding. If you have a feed supply store close by go there and see if you can get oxbow, mazuri, or purina advanced nutrition show rabbit. You can also check at a local pet...
