I just went to PetSmart and got some more hay for my chinchillas and I was thoroughly disappointed in the selection.. I have used kaytee hay for a while and haven't had a problem, my chinchillas eat it, it looks nice.. But they had some Great Value stuff or something... It was in a bale. So...

We have turkeys around our house and my dog would LOVE to go after one. I keep him far away more for his safety than the turkeys tho.. Turkeys can be vicious - they have terrible claws on the feet that can rip you apart.. Was this a young turkey?? I don't know why it didn't attack the dog...

Do you use them standing up and let them jump inside them, or do you put them on their side?

I need a new dust house for my chinchillas. I like to put it in the bottom of their FN cage for about half an hour or so, so it needs to fit inside. What do you guys use? I thought about a fish bowl, but it didn't look like it would stand up.. I could see if falling over and that wouldn't...

That's such a great idea! I wish I had thought of that! :-p Nook lets you lend some books, but the selection is very limited and seeming to be more so.. My nook is SO handy commuting on the train!! I can hold my coffee in one hand and read and change pages with the other - even WITH gloves...

I didn't use my directions, and the problem I ran into was putting the bottom and middle pieces in (what the pans sit on). I put it all together and then tried to get those in.. obviously that didn't work :-p Just be sure to get those in AS you're putting the sides together!

Speaking theoretically, with no knowledge of chinchilla physiology.. As you bring up the questions, I don't know what is wrong with feeding chinchillas dried veggies. What is it that causes bloat? The water content of the veggies? If that's all it is, then why not feed dried veggies...
