    Mom Doesn't Like Her Babies?

My female kept sitting on top of her house instead of with her kits. I ended up removing the house and putting a glass jar in so I could observe them all together from a distance. She spazzed a little at first but then her mommy instincts took over.

I dont know if my chin is pregnant

I disagree with that. I had my male for over 4 months (was told he was a female) and then one day I saw my plush balls hanging down low. I never saw them before.

    Fur chewing

I would take her to the vet

    Firm Belly

Are you looking to breed them? I would feel the sides of her belly for elongated nipples as well. You can also weigh her frequently to see if she's gaining weight. I would absolutely recommend separating them if you don't want kits.

    Anxious dad

I agree, $500 is way too expensive. If I recall correctly, my vet charged us $150 as well.

    Anxious dad

I'm not trying to scare you... I'm just telling you about my experience. There's always risk of complications but that's a risk you have to take.

    Anxious dad

Some chins recover fine... some have complications. The best thing you can do for your chin is to find a vet who is very experienced in neutering chins. You do need to be prepared that you may have to hand feed them for a few days while they recovered. I had to hand feed my chin for about 4 days...

Can a chinchilla break her tail?

If she starts self mutilating, you may need to make a e-collar for her

Update Thread: Balthazar the Ringworm Chin

You've done an amazing job! I'm so happy that you decided to adopt him!

    Anxious dad

I agree with Cuddlebug. Your female is currently going through heat which is making the male go crazy. You can move him to another room if needed. My male went crazy at first when I first removed him from my female and 2 kits but calmed down after about a week. I slowly introduced the kits to...

    Do These Cage Covers Work?

I would go with fleece liners made by someone here on the site. They're usually made with a middle layer that absorbs the pee.

    Babies losing weight

Are they male or female kits? If they are male, you absolutely need to remove them from their mother otherwise they can in-pregnant her. I would make a mixture of JAGS formula. I used dry goats milk that I found at Whole foods. I crushed up the pellets and added the shreds on the bottom of the...

    Hair Rings?

It really all depends on that specific chins personality. If humping is the worst you have to deal with then I wouldn't stress too much about it. Worst comes to worst, you can separate them if they can't live together safely.
