    Cleaning Solution & Carrying Cage

I use a plastic carrier aswell. They chins can only nibble the doorframe when the carrierdoor is open. Once they are locked in, they can just bite the bars wich stops very fast. Riding in a car can have some positive effect on chins aswell! My chins (and other people have same experiences) get...

    New chinchilla playhouse

Thanks all for the replies @landkr11: pan was getting moved before it was placed in the hut. Now that it is, they don't have the room to flip or move it too much, so no need to do that. I like that idea however, will prob do that for the food bowl!

    Chinchillas and dogs

Thanks all for the numerous replies. As i thought, it seems to be more a question of training and breed then... I have a double ferret nation cage, so chins can go up and out of reach. My prob is that, since we don't own a mansion with a gigantic garden, we are looking for a smaller dog that...

    New chinchilla playhouse

Last weekend I bought some new tools, and as a little test I made this chinchilla house. I wanted something to put their hay and herbs in so they don't get tossed around and out the cage. Also, my chins have the bad habbit to move their pee-bowl around on the second floor of my ferret nation...

    Chinchillas and dogs

My girlfriend and I finally moved to our own home with garden, so finally we can start looking for a dog. We both wanted one for years now, but due to the lack of a garden we never got one. We don't plan on buying one right away, as with our chins we wanna take the time to research, learn and...

I hope our chins will love this as much as we already do!!

Amazing! I am not a real handy man, and was allready proud of myself I managed to make the wooden ramps for my ferret nation and hang them in myself. I really like your wood-burningskillz, as I know it's harder then it looks (easy to hit a woodvein and break up those perfect lines!) I am...

    Petstores selling Chins in Belgium

I have no idea how good (or how much) chins they are selling in other countries, but here in Belgium it was virtually impossible to buy chins at a local petstore. To get one, you needed to go to a breeder, wich made the chance of being an impulse buy very slim. Lately however, and by that I...

    Speech perception

Take a look at this chin cage!

Why not? Perfectly possible... Ofcourse you would need to make a few "windows" in the sides, and cover those with wire. Your chins have circulation and your cage gets a less "closet" look

    picky chins?

like hownowbrowncow said: depends from chin to chin. When i bought my chins more then a year ago, the breeder said not to put houses or other real enclosed hiding spots in their cage to avoid making them skittish. He said that a chin who can flee (weird noise, sudden movement around cage for...

Take a look at this chin cage!

I like how it looks, just a few things I would like to say; - ramps? Chins don't need ramps! they hop and jump like crazy for a reason! - screws! screws everywhere! Ok, they are sunken in (or however you say that in english, hope you understand me) but once they start nibbling the wood they...

    Bar Spacing for Cages

I got my kits when they were still young ones aswell, and I bought hardware cloth and attached it to the cage. It is **** as it messes up your view inside the cage, but it does the trick... You only need to watch a few things - how will you attach? Zip ties worked for me, since chins never...

    Chin comfortable or chin annoyed?

addicted, are you sure? Hard to describe a sound ofcourse, but mine make those faint squeeky noises when they are exploring and playing together. Sounds like they communicate with those noises, cause I've never seen em doing while angry or scared...

    Chin noises

In my chins' language the parrot noise means "dude not now" and is mostly produced when one is sleeping and the other one annoys him. When they do the squeaky sound i know something is wrong (most of the times) - temperature went up or down a lot, tv is too loud etc. Don't be afraid of your...

    My little escape artist...help?

Chins are creatures of habbit. Some weeks - when my workhours allow it - i take my chins out for daily playtime, always around the same time. Other weeks I can't, and they get a playtime every 2 (max 3) days. At first, when one of those weeks with fewer playtime came up, they got crazy around...

    A few questions I have

    1. I put new toys in my chins cage every week, but I don't mess with the basic setup is. I tried it in the past and mine don't like it so... Doesn't really matter i guess as long as everything is there 2. I had the same problem. - You could put the hay in a feeding bowl, but mine just dragged...

    Changing where my chinchilla pees?

Just giving my view on things, i am unexperienced in a way that i half my first chins for a half year now but this worked for me Note that my chins have no shavings but wooden plank as underground 1. buy cheap dogfood dishes, not to big, rather buy a few 2. buy aubiose (hennepfiber) if you want...

    New owner question
