You can also download a program called HijackThis and post the log on a forum like Bleeping Computer for analysis.

One simple thing you can do if you have a nasty virus:
- Start -> Run -> msconfig
- Click the "BOOT.INI" tab
- Click the "Check all boot paths" button. If a path is not valid, the computer should give you the option to fix it.

Additionally, I suggest you restart the computer in Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly right when it starts) and see if the virus still comes up. If it does, then it's embedded registry keys directing your computer to run it upon startup. It IS fixable--I've done it--but it's a significantly more difficult fix and you can very easily mess up your computer. It's not a job for a malware remover.

ETA: Also keep in mind I'm the spawn of two computer programmers and grew up using MS-DOS. I'm not normal.
