It's the color of the chinchilla. He's a het beige or appears to be one. :)

These are Ingrid, Marita and Frita. They're het beiges, too. Ingrid's picture is really yellow (the picture has got to be from 2001) but you can see her spots on her ears.

With a little TLC they'll look amazing in no time. Just look at her making herself at home on your couch, hehe. I don't have any beige's but I'd sure like to; love the freckles.

Yep, both look beige to me too. I have one here, and her freckles have gotten more numerous over time, she's also got a couple on her nose.
I agree, I'm sure they'll be beautiful in a couple weeks after proper care!

And I think I read it right, you have a boy and a girl right? Just make sure and keep them separated or you will have babies :))

Oh yeah, they are definitly staying apart. They could be siblings for all I know. Thanks for all the help guys! I learned something new for sure. :)

A beige does not look brownish gray. If it does, it's a crappy beige.

You would definitely not confuse any of those beiges with gray colored chins.

Many people who haven't ever seen a standard grey assume their beige chin is standard grey, I have seen it happen time and time again. My point was that the term "beige" conjures a bland color image (think of a paint can of beige paint for the wall) and a hetero beige chin doesn't look anything like that.
Homo beige, yes, most people notice right away the chin is actually BEIGE in color. Hetero beige, not so much.

I rescued Joey (standard) and Louey (beige) and you could hardly tell them apart, they really had no color just washed out blah from poor diet and beach sand dustbaths. Now they are both handsome, healthy colorful boys.
Good point. Poor nutrition, poor breeding and greasy fur does make it difficult to tell just exactly what colour they truly are.
