I read somewhere on here that if I was going to make my own ledges for my chin that I need to use untreated kiln dried pine.
I went to the local lumber store and they told me they only carry Untreated air dried pine and green pine.

Is there any chance I can use air dried pine without hurting my chin?

the problem with air dried is that bacteria and mold can grow in it, which normally wouldn't be a problem, because most people aren't chewing on the wood.

Usually they will be marked with a KD for kiln dried. Any Lowe's, Home Depot, or other chain store will have KD.

most of my chins chomp on the wood, so i would stick with the kiln dried. and as stated both home depot & lowes carry it and it is stamped on the side of the wood KD.

Use pine shelving material that is available at any home improvement center. it is 3/4" thick and available in various widths and lengths. Just try to get pieces with as few knots as passable.
