I've searched around the forums, but couldn't find anything related to this product, or the woods contained within.

I looked at the 'safe woods' list, but didn't find 'Spruce' on the list.

Also, the packaging doesn't say that it's 'kiln dried' and the wood is from 'Natural and Recycled' woods.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this product? Is it safe for chins or is there too little information and it's safer to just leave it alone?

Also, I did find Planet Petco Aspen shavings with a package that only states it's from Natural aspen good.

I know aspen is on the 'safe woods list', but I just want to make sure it doesn't need to be prepared a certain way like Pine does.

Thanks for the help!

It's alright. Spruce is safe for chins, it's a coniferous tree with very low toxicity. If they sell it at petco, it's kiln dried. If they didn't dry it well enough, it would mold and not keep on the shelves for long at all.

If you can find a feed store or a tractor supply store or even a small independent pet store, you could probably find pine shavings a lot cheaper in a larger bag. Most of the things sold at Petco are pretty expensive compared to other places.

azchins i see that you mention tractor supply and pine shavings. that is the closest place for me to buy bedding are the dust free pine shavings from there good to use?
