Maybe a cuddle buddy? Maybe a dominance fight again?

Ezio and Altair (bonded) are 2.5 years old. They used to do the humping for dominance but haven't done it in well over a year.

However, during hair ring check tonight (oh boy!) I realized that Altair's testicles are quite full looking and feeling, while Ezio's are just normal sized and feeling. Once both went back into the cage, though, Ezio started humping Altair. It was very random and odd.

Do you think a cuddle buddy is all that's needed? Neither are humping any part of my husband or me. They aren't fighting at all; no broken or bent whiskers, no cuts, no fur clumps.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I would guess that the hair ring check got him rather excited and once he was back with his buddy, he did something about. I would just keep an eye on things and if you see anything that would indicate that things are escalating, such as bickering or chasing, you may need to separate.

It's possible that his testicles are just bigger as well, they don't really "swell up" when the get full.
