Lavender?

I've been looking around the interwebs for this and I'm getting conflicting information.

Can chinchillas eat lavender? Some sites say it's great for them, some call it poisonous. What gives?

I can't see why it would be poisonous. As long as it isn't treated with something and is food grade and maybe organic, that would probably be alright in a small amount as a treat.

I agree with Susan. Food grade and Organic, I don't see how it is poisonous. I've known several chin owners who use it with no issues.

Personally, I'm allergic so I've never tried it so hopefully someone with experience will chime in.

Thanks! I found some organic stuff at whole foods, but I'll keep it sparse like any other treat.

While I know moderation is all-important, it's REALLY hard to say no to her begging! Ack!

Yuki is another begger. So I have to constantly remind myself of the scale the treat is to them and us. and the percentage of what he's eating that day. Plus I've taken to breaking treats smaller. He eats some so fast he has to think he's getting more than if i gave him the whole thing.
