Hi, I scrubbed and cleaned the boards from the cage this morning. I baked them at 200 degrees to ensure complete dryness. There are some oil/gum like liquid came out from the knots on the surface of the boards. Is it safe for the chins ? Thanks!!

Were these brand new pine boards or ones that you've had for a while and is the liquid more sticky like sap or more like oil?

Sometimes the knots will have a little sap in them that could run a little when baking the boards at higher temperatures. It probably won't hurt the chins if you sanded down the knots where the sap comes out a little. Knots are almost always sappy like that if you bake them.
