How much dust?

I will finally be getting my Chin next month after nearly a year of researching, planning and preparing!

I have now been going back and re-familiarizing myself with all the basics. I swear I read this answer somewhere, but now I can't find it.

How much dust should go in the dust house for baths?

Most people put about an inch or so in, depending on how many chins you have. For my cage with 4 girls, I normally put about 3" in since they go through it pretty quick.

from what i've read, about an inch. but i'm stingy with dust! lol. Rhino only gets a couple scoops of blue cloud each time i refresh his dust. but his dust bowl is small (the green plastic one with blue dome top from petsmart), so the little bit of dust i put in goes a long way, due to the shape of his bowl.

About an inch is fine. You can reuse the dust as long as your chinchilla does not urinate in it. Poos can be sifted out.
