When I was playing with my chinchilla Boromir recently, he started chewing on my hair tie that I had on my wrist. I thought it was funny so I took it off and I would hold one end while he chewed and tugged on the tie. He never shredded any of the string off and it didn't snap, but he seemed to be having a great time! He let me hold him and keep him steady while he was pulling and nibbling on it. Is this a safe thing to do? Or should I steer clear of letting him chew on things like this? Just being a paranoid Polly!

Just to add to the cuteness factor:

I wouldn't let him chew on anything that your questionable about, hair ties being a no. It would be a bad habit for both of you if you let him chew whatever. He's such a cutie though! :)

playing tug o war with a vine wreath or stick would be much better, and if you 'let him win' he gets to chew his prize! lol.
