Are Chinchillas capable of dreaming? My Lily makes all sorts of squeaks and mewing noises while she's asleep. I'm also watching her now and she is licking her face and making chewing motions even though she appears to be completely passed out.

I'm pretty sure that they dream. I've seen them really breathing deeply with little legs moving. It's hard to wake them up from those dreams sometimes. But, when I wake them up they hop up after trying to figure out where they are for a second or two. :)

The sleep chewing is just hysterical! :)

I am guessing that dreaming is the reason behind much of the sleep barking we all have heard at one time or another.

The question is...what do they dream about? And what scares them in their dreams to make them bark...no more treats?

I'm sure they dream. I have just sat and watched my boys sometimes because I find it relaxing to watch them sleep. Ande will be sound asleep sometimes and act like he has been startled out of nowhere, and start barking. I'm definitely sure they dream.

I think my boys dream of running free in a field of apple wood, raisins and pumice! Poo dreams of female chinchillas I am sure@ .

Thanks for all the input, yes they are quite adorable in their sleep.:thanks10:
