    Antibiotics

What are the best antibiotics to use for chinnies? I've had bad experience with Baytril in the past. My vet gave me Azithromycin this time (different vet than the one that gave the Baytril). However it gave my girl diarrhea so we stopped immediate as she already isn't eating much and that was...

Safe or Not Safe Essential Oils?

Thank you both, sounds like I"m being a little over protective :) I'll look up stuff for birds an kind of use that as a starting guide. And anything that I diffuse around them I'll just watch how they act carefully. I might start with the lavender because one of my chinnies came from a pet...

Safe or Not Safe Essential Oils?

Hello, A friend of mine is into the Young Living Essential Oils. I've got a diffuser but I"m SUPER nervous about using it any where near my chinnies, so I only use it in one room that is closed off to them. I'm wondering if anyone here has a list of essential oils that are big no nos, to...

    Any thoughts?

I started with 2 chinnies (Luna & Aurora) it took some time to get them to be besties but the eventually got there. However after 4 year Luna got sick and passed on the way to the vet and Aurora didn't get to say goodbye. Aurora kept crying out for her best friend more and more so we got a new...

    Fleece chewing

I would like to cover my chins ledges in fleece and get her a hammock, but I worry about her eating them. I have tried it out by making my own ledge cover but after it being in the cage for a little while she started biting it and pulling on the fleece, so I took the cover off. Is there a type...

    Would this cage be good?

I have 2 female chinchillas and I'm looking to get them a new cage. I was wondering if anyone has used the Critter Nation Small Pet Cages that Dr. Foster and Smith sells? Or just if people think the double size one would be okay for 2 chinnies?

    Cost for Malocclusion Treatment?

Luna was doing better, but my boyfriend and I have noticed she has lost a noticeable amount of weight. I've seen her eat but clearly it hasn't been enough. I wasn't too worried at first because the vet said she was over weight and could stand to lose some, but it feels like too much in a short...

    Cost for Malocclusion Treatment?

Thank you for the advice every one. She seems to be doing better now. No more eye discharge. However she is still kind of mad at us for the medicine. Planning to still get x-rays done soon just because she has never had them done before. Want to make sure she is really in the clear.

    Cost for Malocclusion Treatment?

One of my Chins (Luna) either has a eye infection or malocclusion. I've take her to the vet and she is on 3 medicines now (some eye drops, anti-inflammatory, and antibiotics). The vet said if she doesn't get better in a week, I've got to take her to another vet that does dental stuff. I'm just...

    Help ledge covering for bumblefoot

Both the ledges and bottom of the cage are just made of plastic. I have several smaller wooden ledges around the cage but the main ones plastic. I also try to keep at least an inch of wood chip bedding in the bottom. I don't use the carefresh paper bedding because again she like to eat it.

    Help ledge covering for bumblefoot

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the correct place but I need some help. One of my chinchillas has the very early start of bumblefoot. I've taken her to the vet and she has gotten medicine. My problem is finding something to make the ledges softer so it doesn't happen again or get worse. I...
