    Weird noises while on wheel

Ok I adopted a new chin (Harry) at 9 months. It's been just a little over a year. . . So I got Harry a flying saucer wheel. He loves it and runs constantly, but at night he literally pounces on it to start running and then he screams out 3 or 4 times. He never stops running while making the god...

    Long Wail or Moan

My newest little chin does the same thing. He also pounces on his wheel to run and makes that same screech/ scream. It's only at night. I thought his feet might be injured, or something else, but he's perfectly fine. Just vocal guy I guess. Side note my older chin is now super quiet at night.

    Bedbugs and Chins?

I was thinking of boarding him for a few days. I am going to put his cage outside while they spray to keep from getting to contaminated and of course clean it thoroughly before I bring him back in. I can't imagine having a colony under my mattress! It's so annoying because I am a clean freak...

    Bedbugs and Chins?

I don't know if anyone has dealt with this, but if you have I need your help. I've just moved into a new apartment and I think it has bedbugs. Now using my common sense I believe I would have to board Chinny while the apt is being treated. So how long would I have to board him? What if anything...

    He loves his new wheel!

About a year ago I bought chinny a wheel off eBay. It's been fine, but really loud. It wasn't much of a problem because lived in the middle nowhere. Having recently moved to an apartment I didn't want to drive my neighbors crazy so I decided to get chinny a flying saucer. His previous owner had...

    Chinny and sarah Jessica Parker

I had a revelation about my chinchilla the other day. He hates Sarah Jessica Parker. I was watching SATC ( like a marathon). Everytime the musci plays and she talks he squaks. I thought something was wrong with him at first. There was no loud noise to upset him. He wasn't sleeping, so it wasn't...

Help me prove Chinchillas aren't Stupid Rodents

My mom has never met Chinny, but every phone conversation she always brings up that I should get rid of him. She thinks he's dirty and diseased. No matter what I say to contradict her. Some people will never understand and don't want to. It's sad though because chinchillas are amazing.

Unnecessary and Avoidable Chin Trouble :(

I was in a Petsmart with some friends and they had chinchillas in these little cages and full of plastic. I just couldn't help but think about everything being done wrong and I started to cry and ran out of the store. Needless to say I'm not exactly the crying type and my friends thought I was...

    Pickest chin ever?

Yea totally. I was under the impression I had to give hay everyday. I think I will try hay cubes as well. That's a great idea. Thanks. And it's like they always know when they're being talked about right? Has anyone used those hay wheels? I wonder if that would help having less hay waste?

    Pickest chin ever?

Yea same here both ceramic bowls. He never pees in the pellets. I just bought 3 different hays of oxbow for this round so we'll see how it goes. Glad to know it's not just my Chinny. As I type this he is digging through his hay and discarding. So spoiled, so lucky I love him so much!

    Pickest chin ever?

So I guess this is a vent, sort of. When I got Chinny he came with two 90oz bags of kaytee Timothy hay. He wasn't really eating any of it. Through this place I learned oxbow was a good hay, so that's what I bought. He ate it until he just out of nowhere stopped. So I got American pet diner and...

    Reunited!

I had to take a job in Alaska for the summer. Chinny couldn't come with. So for 5 months I suffered without him. We have totally re bonded and he's even back to giving me and my boyfriend "tooth love".

    Reunited!

I'm just so excited I had to share with everyone. After being away from Chinny for 5 months I just got him back. It was so terrible being separated for so long. I will never leave him for that long again. But he is in good health and still the happiest chinchilla. I can't wait to get him moved...

    Chins and ferrets

Wow ok thanks all very very much. He will be nowhere near my beloved Chinny. I had no idea they were that preditorially driven.

    Chins and ferrets

Is ok to put a chinchilla in the same room with a ferret? I just want make sure there's no weird illnesses that can passed between them. Or stress my chin out. I've tried looking online and couldn't really find anything so thought I'd ask on here.

    Boarding my Chinny

So I have an update. Chinny will be spending the summer in Denver CO. A friend of mine has taken care of chins in the summer before and is wonderfully responsible. I feel so much better about leaving him with her. Now who knows of good vet in the Denver area?

    Boarding my Chinny

Or is there someone on here who would be willing to help me out? I wish I could take him with me , but I live in a teepee and can't control the temp or anything really. I'm going to be gone from May thru beginning of September.

    Boarding my Chinny

I feel terrible that I have to do this, but I have to take a seasonal job in Alaska. Which I love, but I can't take Chinny with me, which I hate. I was thinking of leaving him With my cousin who has never had a chinchilla. I trust him though. I mean before Chinny I'd never had one either ya...
