Update on James! He's doing great and eating like a champ. I just love him. As he's aging he seems to be calming, less huffing and puffing and his body is getting longer. Oh he's darling and beginning to know me <3 I love him so much. He is almost five months old now!

On my lap James will sleep stretched out but in his cage he sleeps in a ball. it's cute <3

That is normal hedgehog behavior. Some grow out of it, some don't. Some don't care to be cuddled and these are the majority, though some do love it. Most hedgies aren't going to react well to being picked up, it's quite common and normal for them to roll into a ball, you just pick them up...

Yeah, I held him for a while in the towel, didn't pet his back like I normally do, just let him sit with me. He is unhappy right now and it's understandable. Like when you're a kid and your body grows too fast at some point and you ache. At least that's what I think of it as xD
