It kind of just came to my mind that the chinchillas in my locally owned pet store are housed RIGHT next to birds (like caged butted up against each other). I was wondering if it is safe for chinchillas to be housed right by birds? Because with rabbits, they cannot be housed by/with chickens.

Has anyone ever heard of the bark on an oak tree being safe for chinchillas? Also why aren't oak or maple trees on either list of safe/not safe? Just curious! :)

I had prepared a ton of wood (elm, ash, apple, etc), all sticks and twigs for my chinchillas, and then went to get some for them one day and EVERY bag had some mold in it. Is there ANY way to make this wood safe for chinchillas? Thanks in advance!

Just wondering, since I didn't see this wood listed on the safe or not safe list....Is Walnut Tree wood safe for chinchillas? Is there a difference with Black Walnut Tree wood? Thanks and any imput would be appreciated. :)

I have been waiting forever for my big girl to have babies. And today she gave birth to a absolutely gorgeous baby boy white mosaic with awesome markings. I'll try to post pics soon! The baby is out of a Standard Grey Shoots girl and a White Mosaic JAGS boy :) Being patient pays off ;)!
