toe injury and red nodules

I am just getting to know my new chin and since hr is letting me get close to him now I have noticed somethings. He has 2 red nodules on his rear end and one of his front toes is red and swollen around his nail. He chews at it a lot.

He came from a wire bottom cage. Could this be the problem? Should I take him to the vet?

It very well could be due to his former surroundings, but it also could be something else. The fact that he has them on his back-end makes me think it could be infected injuries, fungal infection, or even allergies.

I'm no expert, so I won't give any advice on health care, but a vet could really help you out in understanding what is causing the swelling and if there is any creams or ointments that could help.
