Soft water for chin?

My family just bought a new chinchilla and we were curious if soft water would harm them. Our water softener is salt based so the water does have salt in it, also if the water is safe for them would they need a salt lick since the water is salty? Thanks!

No water that has been 'soften' is not good for chins. Get bottle water. Walmart has 'drinking water' which is water reverse osmosis. That is the best for them. Also chins should not have any salt or mineral 'licks'

I only give my chinchilla filtered water. I buy the big jugs at the grocery store. I think it's just the healthiest and really not too expensive.
