Hi all, I'm not sure if anyone's ever posted this tip/trick before, but I found it works very well with my hedgie.
I've tried a lot of different methods when cutting my hedgie's (Pip's) nails, but nothing worked because he's still wiggly and fussy! Finally, I realized that Pip seems to calm down when I place my finger horizontally to "cover" his eyes when he's on his back.
So to cut his nails, I'll flip him onto his back on one hand (onto my left because I'm right-handed) and he'll lay there with his hand and paws outstretched. Then I hold him under a towel that is only covering his eyes, but not his nose. Then I just proceed to cut away. He doesn't fuss, he holds his paws out, he's still, he's -calm-!
So give it a try! Let me know if it works out for you.
