Kittens are born with their eyes and ears closed. They don't open until they are about a week or so old. I wouldn't force anything open and if you are that concerned you should take the kitten to the vet.

I think you need to take her to a vet. This is not a thread for kittens, it was meant for a chinchilla kit. Some may have not understood what you were asking in a thread about chinchillas. You need to take it to a vet. I hope everything works out okay for you. Please forgive some of our misfortunate shares.

I really think the OP means a chinchilla kit. She just mistakingly called it a kitten.
