Picking up chinchillas

Hi,
I have two chins that I got about 6 months ago. They are definitely comfortable enough with me-- they hop all over me during playtime and sometimes let me pet them in the cage.
I was wondering the best way to pick them up. I haven't done it much, but now one of my chins has an eye infection and needs eye drops I got from the vet twice a day. I have to pick her up in order to put them in and I have to chase her around the cage to get her which is unpleasant for both of us, I hate scaring her! How do I introduce them to picking them up without chasing them?

Calmly reach in the cage and grab the tail near the base to stop her from running, then you can reach under her with tour other hand to scoop her up. Works great once you get the hang of it and there is no crazy running around.
