My new chinchilla made a noise I don't recognize

He was sitting in his cage while I was about ten feet away in my chair on my computer when he stood up and made the noise while looking around. It wasn't barking because I heard him bark at the pet store lady but it sounded similar. It was gentle and soft and a little higher pitched than barking. I haven't been able to find this noise anywhere on the website and he only did it a few times and then went back to what he was doing. What is this noise? What does it mean? Thank you!

I think he may just be trying to get your attention or looking for somebody else if he was in a pet store he was used to hearing other animals im sure he is just adjusting
