Mosquitoes and Chins

Can mosquitoes bite chinchillas? Or is their fur too dense for the mosquito to get through? We have one in our house... O_O

Good question! I'm wondering this as well.... I'd hope, though, that since their fur is too dense for fleas, that would be too for mosquitoes as well....:hmm:

I would think that, except for around the nose and other exposed skin, the fur is too thick for the mosquito to penetrate...

Geez.. Where are you lucky enough to live that ONE mosquito is all that is in the house? Mosquitos are just a way of life here...

We are warned out here in CA about west niles virus that in the opinion of the vets here can be transmitted to chinchillas and other pets, its deadly and transmitted by mosquitos.
