I have a beige chinchilla that is about 7 months old. When he was a baby he didn't really have any red to his eyes. As he gets older, his eyes turn more of a ruby red. (that is how his mom got the name Ruby.) I was just wondering, is this normal? Has anyone else had a chin do this?:hmm:

Beige, Tan, Brown Velvet and Pink Whites are known for their red eyes so it's completely normal.

Like you said all of these mutations will have pink eyes because they all have the dominant beige gene in them. Now if you had a homo beiges (two beige genes) the eyes are usually a lighter shade of pink yet.

I have a tan white and I thought his eyes were black until a few months ago when I realized that they were red. His still don't look red in most lighting.
