Meet Luna

We brought her home today, and she is getting used to her new cage. My son named her, and we all fell in love with her instantly. Big thank you to Kristy and ABC Chinchillas for bringing her into our lives. Sorry about the picture overload, but couldn't help it!

Yes, I think Luna Lovegood was part of the inspiration.

So even after all the reading and research, I'm still left unsure on her behavior as a new chin owner. When they do that cute jump up in the air, is it always a happy thing, or do they do that when they are freaked out too? Also, are soft squeaks good? Doesn't really sound like anything bad, but again, with limited experience I'm unsure.

Sounds like popcorning, and it's a happy thing. I just saw it for myself for the first time last night when my newest was out for playtime

She is popcorning I am so glad she is settled in and already loved.

Popcorning is done by happy chinchillas. The little squeaks are usually made by a content chinchilla.

Thanks, I was wondering about the squeaks. She seems happy by all indications. Now if I can just stop worrying about every little thing, I'll be good!
