Hello everyone

I am considering making and selling chin toys and cage accessories as I have access to a whole factory and all the tools and wood that I could need. I am based in the UK and was wondering if there are any toys or accessories that people have found hard to get, or have always wished someone would make? Alternatively, what's your/your chins favourite cage item?

Any comments about good/bad items and pics for reference would be great :)

Hello! It would be really great if there were some more UK chin suppliers. I have had difficulty sourcing good safe wooden accessories for my chins' cage (i.e. safe wooden nest houses [no glue/plywood]; variety of sizes of safe shelving; interesting ledges; etc.)

There seem to be a lot of creative people in the US making neat chin furniture, which I wish was available in the UK:

Simplychintastic has some great little houses, day beds, shelving, etc.

And Twilightchinchillas has some really neat houses/shelving/etc. that can be beautifully painted.

What kinds of wood do you have access to make things out of? It would be great to have accessories in a variety of woods to keep the chins interested.

That's exactly the problem that I've been having, I just can't find the things that I want!

The simplychintastic stuff looks great, we'd hopefully have some similar things and lots of combination items such as a ledge with a house built into it (if you can picture that!)

I currently have lots pine, and I'm currently discussing getting some apple, ash, pear, grapevine and hawthorn. So hopefully we would have lots to offer :)

We've also been looking at making some items to use out the cage, like little mazes and things they can run and jump around onto. It's all in the early stages, but hopefully we can get some items made soon!

It's a shame that shops like Pets at Home only seem to sell plywood types of things...

I think my chins would go nuts for an applewood house! I figured pine is always the go-to because it's much more affordable for all involved, but I'll be very interested to see what kinds of things you end up making!

Perhaps you've already seen this but this guy has made some amazing custom houses etc. for his chins: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6BHfLU95yE

Do keep us updated! :)
