We are having a new roof put on, starting Monday. Do you think my chin will become stressed by the noise, or will he adjust to it?

The noise will stress him but he should be OK. If you have a basement you might consider putting him there for the day. If not you might turn a radio on loud.

Don't have a basement. I have an air purifier in his room, and a radio, so I'll crank both up. Thanks!
He just came home today so I'm nervous about upsetting him too much.
(The foster lady I got him from lives about 3 hours away and she was able to meet me close to my house today, so that's why I brought him home before the project started)
