Is this normal?

Ever since I changed my chinchilla diet when he eats it looks like it hurts him because he squeaks. Is this normal? What should I do?

I can't honestly say as I've ever noticed chins that squeak when they eat pellets. Just changing his pellets over shouldn't make any difference to his ability to chew them. Pellets are pellets in that sense, it's just the nutritional content that would have changed.

I agree, just changing his pellets wouldn't make him do that. Is he doing anything else? Pawing at the mouth or making a gagging motion?

No I havent seen him gag or pawing at his mouth.
