Is coconut safe?

Are coconut shells and coconut twine safe? How about the coconut huts found at pet stores?

The coconut shell toys I bought were safe from my chinchillas, not one touched them!

Coconut shell and the fibers off the coconut shell should be safe. My chin never touches the shell, but she loves to eat the hairy bits off the shell.

I got a few hanging coconut shells to use as hay holders and while they messed with the fibers at first, they pretty much leave them alone now.

I've also got some coconut pieces on my chin's toys, and no body even takes a nibble at them. They would be good hay holders though.

LOL ~ That's because you feed them so much apple wood they are spoiled! I purchased a whole box of the coconut shell halves and my chins make awesome work of them. Hum, if I was any good at it I'd take pictures....
