After 8 months of not knowing where he was, limited communication and scattered emails and no letters, my husband is on his way home! :dance3:

I am running around here like a chicken with my head cut off :wacko:trying to get all the things I should have gotten done earlier in the week, when we found out there was a chance they could be home this weekend. There is so much to be done before this weekend too. I have to get the house cleaned, the carpets need to be cleaned and the Welcome home signs need to be made and hung, along with a jillion other things I need to do. I have to get a hair cut, and a mani/pedi and generally make myself beautiful and slip out of mom and dad mode and back into mom/wife mode.
Oh and does anyone know how to lose 8 months of weight in a couple of days? ;)

This is all old hat for me, as we have done this numerous times before, but I still feel as nervous as I did on my prom night, when he showed up to escort me and as nervous as I felt on my wedding day, when we eloped. I do not know if I will get any sleep at all waiting for that call for the exact time and day he will be in so I need to get cucumbers to hide the dark circles! And some good under eye concealer! ;)

Thanks for reading my diatribe! I just had to share my excitement with everyone!

Congrats! So glad to see he's making it home to you safe and sound (and soon!).

Glad to hear he's coming home, once he sees you, I bet he won't give a darn what the house looks like, and he will never notice a little more you. This is so great, have a fantastic reunion.

Yay!!!!!!! I guess I don't have to say give him some big smooches because you're probably already planning on that!

If you do figure out how to lose 8lbs of weight in 2 days please let me know!

So happy for you to be reunited with him!

Thanks everyone!

Laurie, if I figure that out I will definitely let everyone know! :)

Ruoc, You are probably right! But I want everything to be perfect! ( a terrible throw back to my child hood unfortunately!) ;)

That's wonderful news Stephanie! (did I remember your name correctly?! I'm getting old, lol) I can feel your excitement through the computer!!! Is your husband home for awhile? 8 months is a terribly long time and I'm so happy you get to enjoy his company once again! Congrats!

LOL! You got it right, Jenn! :) Unfortunately, he is only home for a few weeks and then he is leaving again for a few weeks, to start work ups for his next deployment. But to even have him home for a couple of weeks is okay with me! :)

aww, a few weeks will go by too fast, but I understand that any amount of time home right now would be so exciting. Hopefully he isn't gone as long this next time out, and you can have better communication with him. Have a wonderful time together!

Have a great two weeks! I grew up in a military family and remember the times I was so excited when my dad was coming home. His last deployment was during the first gulf war. I worried so much about him, and he was my dad. I couldn't imagine my husband being gone for so long. Good luck and have a great time!

Erin

Thanks Guys! Shawn came in yesterday safe and sound, minus a URI he is fighting off, but it is nice having him home again! It is always a little weird the first few days but we eventually get back into a routine and things settle down.

The kids are also happy to have him home. My 10 year old saw him on the pier and ran full speed toward him and threw his tiny little 10 year old body at his daddy! It was so sweet that I almost cried when I saw him to do it.

Erin, I remember when my dad was deployed to the gulf too. It was a scary time for my whole family because if what he did in the Reserves. When he came home, we all felt a bit better and when he retired right before all this mess in the middle east started again, we were even more happy!
