hedgies called?

so i dont have a hedgie, want one but dont have one. my co-worker/friend is getting some, she knows how to take care of them and all that, she was a zoo keeper and took care of some there.

anyways what are the diffrent kind of hedgies out there? like i know there are english hedgies. she was calling some white bellied and 4-toe hedgies.

im just curious

African pygmy, white bellied, african, asian, egyptian... There are many.

Since the importation ban in the US, we only see a mix of White-bellied & Algerian hedgehogs. There were a few Long-eared, but I don't think many were imported as I haven't seen anyone owning one (and posting images) for ages. I got to see two at an exotic auction in the mid-90s though, and those ears were awesome.

On the other side of the world we occasionally get to see images of Long-eared, Egyptian hedgehogs, and a few other varieties being kept as pets.
