I have a 1.5 years old boy.

*He doesn't eat a hay like he used to.
May be he didn't like this hay (same brand)this time.
It doesn't look like the hay I always get.
He eats only pellets now.
I tried not to feed pellets but still he didn't eat a hay.
He doesn't like oxbow, kaytee or other brands of hay
but nature's promise one that I always give.
I baked the hay this time but he didn't eat.

*His poops are smaller than before.
May be he doesn't eat much hay.
I tried to give him a papaya,a yogurt and a pineapple juice,
but he didn't take them.
I gave powder of lactobacilli bifido complex for two days.
His poops got a little bigger but still small.

*His pee spot has changed.
When he is in the cage he does pee only in the litter box
but now he does it everywhere.
May be I got a female chinchilla recently.

*He stopped running in a wheel.
I use a wheel for chin but it looks small for him now.

I don't know what's wrong with him.
Is he sick?
What should I do?
I'll buy a hay soon but anything else?

Thank you.

Okay, first? Stop the selection of junk you are giving him, the yogurt, the papaya, the pineapple juice. NO chin needs that and it's not good for them.

Baked hay is going to taste awful. It's just going to be dry as toast without butter. There's also no reason to bake hay. Hay is cured by the sun and the wind. It dries when it's cut. Baking it is overkill. Find a local farmer who has fresh grass hay or timothy or even a bit of alfalfa, depending on what kind of pellets you feed, and see if he likes that better than stuff that comes in a bag. There's nothing wrong with him eating only pellets, provided they are nutritionally sound. Many ranchers feed nothing but pellets. What kind are you feeding?

If his wheel is too small, obviously, he's not going to run on it. It's going to hurt his spine and it's not good for him. Easy answer? Get a bigger wheel.

As far as a female, I'm not sure what getting a female has to do with anything. Are you intending to breed them?

So basically, he's eating and he's peeing, but his poops are a little small. He's not running in his too small wheel and he's not eating the hay you baked. I would imagine with all that stuff you were giving him, his stomach is pretty torn up right now. You need to cut the junk, get him on a good pellet and good hay, and make sure he's hydrated. Is his water bottle working? Be sure that it is. If he's not hydrated, he won't eat. Try some high billion count acidophillus. I would also recommend some Lifeline from Chocolate Chinchillas, but from what I've seen lately she may be out? Try contacting Tanya on here instead. She has many different supplements that are all organic that target different things. Let her know your concerns, see if she can help match you up with one that might help.

Thank you Tunes!

I read some articles that these junks are good for hair balls and more.
But I won't try to give them anymore.
He didn't eat or drink any of them anyway.
I guess my chin knows better than I do...:(

I feed pellets from oxbow.

I have a silent wheel for chin/12 inch.
I didn't know there are larger size wheels available until you told me.
I searched and found the products that good for them are
chin spin and metal flying saucer.
But WOW they are expensive....:(

He drinks water and the water bottle is fine.

I think I did many wrong things.
Thank you for letting me know many many things and correct me.
I'll wait more info from you and all!:)
