Today is Hedgehog Day

“If during hibernation, he (the hedgehog) looks out of his den on 2nd February and sees his shadow it means there is a clear moon and six more weeks of winter so he returns to his burrow.”


I did scoop Tex out of his hedgiebag this morning for footbath and snuggletime. He didn't talk much about what he saw last night... but I also failed to ask. I'll have to inquire during our evening snuggletime.

While snuggly, Tex remained rather taciturn regarding spring vs winter last night. Perhaps another hedgie might be able to enlighten us. Or, since the country has already made the jump from hedgies to groundhogs, how about a chinchilla? Any news from the chins about what they did/didn't see?

There were a lot of various news articles yesterday for Hedgehog Day. Over the years the number seems to increase. However, one article really stuck out for me.

It was a news feed from Russia Today (http://www.rt.com). A hedgehog in a Russian zoo making a prediction. It even had a very short video clip (only the first 30 seconds or so are of the hedgehog), but I thought I would share as the hedgehog is darn cute:
