Thought maybe we could start a thread with everyone's best hand feeding tips.
I for one was unable to get my boy burritoed well enough to restrain him that way. I put a pillow on my desk, put a small hand towel around his shoulders and grasped it under his neck (like a cape, I guess), and held his rear end snug against the crook of my elbow. This was using my left hand/arm. I held the towel in my last 3 fingers, leaving my thumb and index free to guide his head. I use my right hand to deliver the food through the syringe.
Another thing I did to encourage interest in the syringe was to rub the tip on a raisin before presenting it to him. That enabled me to get enough of the food into his mouth that eventually he decided he liked it.
