Green wood

I recently received an order of apple wood. All of it is soft and when you trie to break the pieces they tear and you can see green wood. I think, they need to be dried but am not sure. What do any of you think?

Yup, I would definitely dry them first! You could maybe bake them in a low oven for a couple of hours. I did this a few months ago, slightly charcoaled them and the chins went mad for the taste .

I gave green wood once, they hated it so you will end up wasting it. Drying low heat brings the sugars out of the wood to the surface (this is what I was told) and makes it tasty.

low heat about 250 degrees for 2 hrs. just don't over bake them.

I agree. Low heat for a few hours. I usually bake at 200 for two to three hours with the wood spread out on cookie sheets.

If it hasn't been boiled and baked, it could have bacteria on it as well.
