Dry food stuck between teeth - how do help him without a vet??

Hello

My chinchilla has a piece of dry food/some seed probably stuck in between his teeth. How can i take it out? I gave him another piece of a different hard treat and hoped that would help. It is irritating him and he is trying to help himself pawing his mouth.

Can someone advise please??

I'd recommend going to a vet and having him do it. It often takes sedating for the vet to be able to work on teeth. I also don't recommend seeds for chinchillas as all they need is pellets, hay and things like wood chews. The only treats we give are rose hips and unsweetened shredded wheat in small quantities.

I agree with the vet visit. The irritation could cause him to stop eating and end up in much worse shape with GI stasis.

You can't. More than likely he will need to be sedated. The irritation could also cause infection and may warrant pain meds/antibiotics.
